That was fast! And now, announcing...

I'm a northern girl. I like winter!

I love being bundled in my parka, toasty on the inside with the cold against my face. If it's snowing, all the better.

But two years ago, I went to Hawaii in January. I returned and didn't enjoy the winter at all. Having been in the warmth, I no longer appreciated the cold. I decided then that my winter travel would be to northern destinations. Last year it was Whitehorse and Quebec City. This year it was Mont Tremblant.

But February has sped by and now we're on the verge of March. It will soon be spring and I'm looking forward to travel out of the cold.

Where I'm traveling.
Later in March I leave for my first trip ever to Japan. I am beyond excited! It has been on my list for some time and my plan is coming together nicely. I'll share it and my budget with you on the blog soon. After 10 days there, I'll bop down to Sydney, Australia to visit family for a week.

The Solo Travel Awards
Nominations for the 2nd annual Solo Travel Awards open March 1st. The Awards are designed to recognize companies that treat solo travelers well and encourage more to do the same. It's part of our commitment to advocate on behalf of solo travelers. Companies nominate themselves and share information on how they serve solo travelers well so that our panel of judges can determine the winners.

This year, we're excited to include a new Award in the program. The World Nomads Solo Travelers Choice Award will be open for voting after nominations for the general awards close on May 15th. From May 16th to September 15th you can review all the nominees and vote for the company that you think serves solo travelers exceptionally well. At the same time you'll be introduced to new companies to consider in your travel plans.

That's it for now. Safe and happy solo travel to all.

Janice
