Hi Solo Traveler - You're the first to know!

Published: Mon, 10/23/17

The winners of the Solo Travel Awards are being announced today.

But we wanted you to be the first to know. So, to keep it all on the up-and-up, Australia and the UK, you're getting your news a tad later than usual so that we can hold true to the announcement being made on October 23rd.

Drum roll please! The winners of the first annual Solo Travel Awards by category are: Please read today's post on Solo Traveler for details on the winners and an explanation of why there is no winner in both the river and ocean cruise categories.

What we've been thinking about: what is it that solo travelers want most?
Last Monday we launched our annual Reader Survey, our most robust survey yet. In it, we not only dig into who you are and how we're doing but also how you plan travel, what you like to do as you travel and what you want more of from travel companies. And we've gathered all this information by age which will help us advocate on behalf of readers with the industry. If you haven't yet taken the survey you can do so here.

Where we're traveling.
This month Janice went to Rome and Paris with Monograms Travel which is a non-tour travel company. They offer planning and support for independent travelers. This takes their supplement a little over our 15% threshold but for the service they offer I consider it quite good. I'll explain this better on Wednesday's post about that amazing trip. Later in the month Janice goes to annual meeting of the Society of American Travel Writers in Portland, Oregon. She expects to pick up lots of tips on Portlandia to share with you soon.

That's it for now. Safe and happy solo travel to all.

Janice & Tracey

P.S. If you're traveling soon, don't forget...
