Hi All,
I'm not sure when, in my entire life, I have had to exercise as much patience as I have this past year.
Sometimes, being patient is just a matter of waiting for something that you know will happen and you know when it will happen.
A more challenging exercise in patience is waiting for something that is uncertain both in its timing and eventual arrival.
We have been enduring this challenging form of patience for the last 14 months.
But now, there is hope.
The vaccine is reducing the spread of Covid-19. As the spread is reduced, the potential development of new variants is reduced and public health and safety is improved. The challenge of the Coronavirus is about all of us. The faster we can collectively tamp it down, the sooner we can all live our individual lives as we wish.
And yes, now there is hope.
I equate my eager anticipation of travel to waiting for Christmas when I was a kid. I new it was coming. I new the date. I was fortunate enough to be able to count on my parents for a bounty despite the fact that gifts could not be purchased until my father got his annual bonus.
I have great memories of revelling in patience/impatience with my sister as we anticipated Christmas. We shared a room with twin beds covered in spreads made by mom, a desk that my father refinished was between them. One night we couldn't contain our excitement and developed a game, while obediently staying in our beds, of flipping our legs as high into the air as we could. In my memory, the fun, the giggles and excitement went on for hours.
It is that kind of excitement that is entering me as the world slowly returns to travel.
Now, it's still complicated. In fact, I started out to write this email to share with you all the possibilities of travel, but it is just too complicated. So here are a few links for you.
