Hi Solo Traveler, What is your favorite solo travel memory of 2018?

Published: Mon, 11/26/18

We're rolling into December. How did that happen? It seems like 2018 has passed so quickly.

I know that many of you have enjoyed exciting trips this year. What is your favorite solo travel memory of 2018? I like to pose this question near the end of each year, then compile your stories into a post to share with other readers. For the last two years, it has been wonderful to hear about your most treasured travel experiences and to pull them together to provide inspiration for others for their future planning. Here's a taste of what your fellow solo travelers loved best in 2017: Best Solo Travel Memories. Send your stories to me at tracey@solotravelerworld.com, and if you can include a photo or two, even better!

Some of you may be looking to travel over the upcoming holiday season. If you haven't yet made your plans, take a look at our Deals page and the post

For relatively inexperienced drivers like me, there's a lot of helpful information. For those of you who have more miles under your belt, it may provide some useful reminders.

I Have One More Trip this Year
I’m excited to finally visit Ireland for the first time! I’m especially looking forward to being there during the Christmas season. I’ll be starting my trip in Dublin and expect the Carols by Candlelight Service at Christchurch Cathedral will launch me right into the holiday spirit. I’ll also be discovering the food of Dublin on a walking tour. Then, I’ll take the train to Cork, where a Christmas festival awaits, along with, among other things, a vintage pub tour. My final destination will be Galway, where I will explore the city on a walking tour and take a day trip to Connemara before returning to Dublin. I will fly home with all of the ornaments I expect to pick up at the Christmas markets in Ireland, and use them to decorate my own tree.

ICYMI - The Winners of the Solo Travel Awards have been Announced
It was an exciting year for me and my fellow judges as nominations for the Awards came in and we were tasked with reviewing all the entries and choosing the best in the categories of tours, specialty tours, solo-only tours, river cruising, ocean cruising, and vacation packages. Then, the nominees were put to you and voting began for the World Nomads Solo Travelers Choice Award. See which companies in each category serve solo travelers best: Here are the Winners of the 2018 Solo Travel Awards
A special thanks to World Nomads. Their sponsorship makes this program possible.

Here's another little tip: the list of nominees is now a resource page on Solo Traveler. If you're looking for travel companies that focus on serving solos, here's a great place to start. Click on any one on our list to browse their current offerings.

Cheers,
Tracey
